In an earlier statement, US President Donald Trump said: "We will not tolerate any attacks on our interests or threats to our security, whether at sea or anywhere else."
Trump emphasized that continued Houthi attacks on American ships, aircraft, and drones had led the United States to take decisive action.
He criticized former US President Joe Biden’s response to these attacks, calling it "pathetically weak," which, according to Trump, allowed the Houthis to continue their reckless actions.
Trump further stated that the escalation had "choked shipping in one of the world's most critical waterways," causing widespread disruptions to global trade.
