ICJ: Jordan among 45 countries submitting statements on 'Israel’s' obligations
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) announced that 45 countries and organizations, including Jordan, have submitted written statements regarding Israeli Occupation’s obligations toward the presence and activities of the United Nations, international organizations, and other states in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The ICJ confirmed that these statements were officially submitted, with contributors including Jordan, Chile, Malaysia, Russia, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar, the UN Secretary-General, Spain, South Africa, Ireland, Saudi Arabia, China, Brazil, Algeria, Egypt, France, the United States, and the African Union, among others.
The oral hearings are set to begin on April 28, following a request from the UN General Assembly in December regarding Israeli Occupation’s responsibilities as an occupying power and UN member state.
The case addresses Israeli Occupation’s duty to facilitate humanitarian aid, ensure essential services, and uphold the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination.
