Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, announced the signing of a grant agreement with the Qatar Fund For Development (QFFD) aimed at supplying Syria with gas through Jordanian territory.

Kharabsheh noted that the QFFD will finance the entire project to address the critical shortage of electricity production in Syria and enhance the stability of its electrical system.

The agreement involves utilizing a floating regasification vessel in Aqaba to receive and convert liquefied gas before pumping it through the Arab Gas Pipeline to Syria. This effort aims to boost electricity production by up to 400 megawatts per day in the initial phase, with plans for gradual increases in the production capacity at the Deir Ali station.

Kharabsheh emphasized that this agreement reflects Jordan's commitment to regional cooperation and its support for Syria in overcoming its challenges. He underscored the importance of assisting neighboring countries in achieving stability and sustainable development.
