VIDEO: Explosion of former mayor's vehicle in Tel Aviv injures two

A car explosion on the Ayalon Highway on Sunday left two people injured, including former Bat Yam mayor Shlomi Lahiani.

 The explosion, which occurred near the La Guardia interchange, is believed to have been caused by an explosive device planted in the moving vehicle.

Footage from the scene shows several cars badly damaged on the highway, which was reportedly shut down, causing significant traffic disruptions during the already busy afternoon commute.

Lahiani and another individual were treated at the scene for minor injuries and transferred to Wolfson Medical Center. Police suspect the motive may be criminal and have launched an investigation.
