Amman Municipality declares “medium” state of emergency
The Greater Amman Municipality has declared a “medium-level” state of emergency starting this evening, Wednesday, in response to the expected weather conditions, as forecasted in weather reports.
Municipality spokesperson Nasser Al-Rahmana confirmed that emergency teams are ready to respond to any reports received at the main emergency room in Tla'a Al-Ali. He urged residents to contact the unified call center at 102 or 117180 if they observe any issues.
The municipality advised citizens to remain cautious, avoid valleys and low-lying areas, and refrain from connecting rooftop gutters to sewer systems to prevent flooding on streets. It also urged people not to dispose of trash haphazardly, as this could obstruct rainwater drainage systems.
Residents were also urged to check sump pumps in basements and commercial spaces below street level. Merchants were advised to take necessary precautions when storing goods in warehouses and lower floors.
Contractors and construction project owners were called to secure construction materials to prevent them from being washed away and causing direct blockages in rainwater drainage lines.
