During the first class, his teacher asked him to retrieve a broom from the school kitchen to help clean the classroom.

According to Safia, Mohamed entered the kitchen, where he encountered two brothers, aged 14 and 15. One of the boys asked him to step inside to get the broom, while the other stood by the door and shut it.

What followed was a horrifying act of violence, one of the boys held Mohamed’s hands behind his back while the other poured kerosene on him and set him on fire. Mohamed fell to the ground as flames engulfed him.

A teacher, noticing Mohamed’s prolonged absence, went to check on him and discovered him in flames. The teacher quickly extinguished the fire and rushed Mohamed to the hospital.

Mohamed sustained second-degree burns on his chest, hands, neck, and ears. Though his condition is stable, he remains in intensive care. His mother expressed her disbelief: “I can’t comprehend it… There was no hostility between my son and these boys. I don’t understand why they did this.”

Legal actions, investigation underway

Following the attack, Mohamed’s mother filed a complaint with the Family Protection Department. The case has been referred to the juvenile prosecutor, and both suspects have been detained pending further investigation.

A committee has been formed to investigate the incident, with findings submitted to the public prosecutor.
