The Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), in cooperation with the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Ministry of Health, evacuated 29 Gazan children and their families by land and air to Jordan on Tuesday, in line with royal directives, to provide necessary treatment at several hospitals across the kingdom as part of the Jordanian medical corridor initiative.

This is the first group of 2,000 children who will receive treatment in Jordan as part of the ongoing humanitarian efforts to support families in Gaza.

Brigadier General Mustafa Al-Hiyari, Director of Military Media, said during a press conference at King Hussein Bridge that the evacuation was a direct response to royal directives to stand with the people of Gaza.

His Majesty King Abdullah II had announced during his recent visit to the United States Jordan’s readiness to welcome 2,000 children for medical treatment.

Brigadier General Al-Hiyari explained that four children were evacuated by Royal Jordanian Air Force helicopters equipped with specialized medical teams from Marka Military Airport, while 25 children were transported by ambulance across the King Hussein Bridge.

He emphasized that the Jordanian Armed Forces are making significant efforts in humanitarian, relief, and medical support for families in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Since the beginning of the conflict, over half a million patients have been treated, with 20,679 surgeries—both minor and major—performed.

Al-Hiyari also noted that 363 prosthetic limbs, both upper and lower, have been fitted as part of the "Restoring Hope" initiative. Additionally, 176 convoys, totaling 7,749 trucks, have been dispatched since the start of the war, and 36 convoys, with 2,719 trucks, were sent after the ceasefire. These included 74,000 tents and mobile homes delivered to those in need in Gaza, in collaboration with the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization and several local and international organizations operating in the kingdom.

The families of the children expressed their gratitude and appreciation to His Majesty the King and the Jordanian Armed Forces for this humanitarian gesture.
