The Civil Defense media officer announced the intensive efforts carried out by Civil Defense teams over the past 24 hours, which included responding to 1,363 medical emergencies, transporting the injured to hospitals, handling 75 rescue incidents, and extinguishing 38 fires.

In statements to Public Security Radio, it was revealed shocking details about the most notable incidents. Thirteen people suffered from breathing difficulties due to inhaling fumes and gases from gas and wood-burning heaters; they received first aid and were transported to hospitals.

However, the most tragic incident occurred in the Abu Alandah area in East Amman, where two young girls—one aged 3 and the other 11—lost their lives after a gas leak triggered a fire in their room, resulting in their fatal burns.

The captain explained that fires caused by improper heater use since the beginning of 2025 have claimed 27 lives and injured 580 others, alarming figures that reflect a widespread disregard for the safety guidelines and awareness efforts provided by the Public Security Directorate (PSD) through continuous advice and educational sessions.

He urged citizens to use heaters safely, emphasizing the importance of regular ventilation, turning heaters off before sleeping, and equipping homes with fire extinguishers as a first line of defense against fires.

He also called on everyone to report any incidents immediately via the emergency number 911 to ensure a swift and effective response.
