Ministry of industry reveals plan to control market during Ramadan

The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yanal Barmawi, confirmed that the country’s food reserves exceed the safe limits for each commodity.

He highlighted that the ministry has been holding ongoing meetings with the commercial sector to ensure that markets are fully prepared for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

Barmawi reassured citizens that the food supply will remain stable and sufficient throughout Ramadan.

He urged the public to report any food market violations through the dedicated hotline at 06/5661176, local governorate phones, the ministry’s mobile app, the at your service "Bikhidmatkum" electronic platform, the ministry’s website, or its official Facebook page.

He added that the ministry will continue monitoring the situation to ensure fair pricing and the availability of essential goods during the busy Ramadan period.

He also highlighted the ministry's plan to control the market, ensuring that all regulations are followed and prices are kept stable throughout the month.

Details of the regulatory plan:

First half of Ramadan:

  • Strengthening inspections on shops selling meat, poultry, fruits, vegetables, essential food items, Ramadan-specific goods, bakeries, qatayef, and sweets.
  • Monitoring the prices and quantities of goods, ensuring clear price tags on all items.
  • Ensuring compliance with declared prices, with a particular focus on maintaining stable prices for large Arabic bread (Pita).

Second half of Ramadan:

  • Intensifying inspections of restaurants, as well as clothing and footwear stores, to ensure compliance with price declarations and promotions.
  • Tightening control over high-demand items during this period, such as furniture, carpets, and sweets, to ensure prices are clearly advertised and followed.
  • Implementing strict measures to control prices.
