Arab League warns against threats to Sudan’s unity
The Arab League voiced deep concern over any actions that could compromise Sudan’s territorial integrity, emphasizing its firm opposition to any attempts that might lead to the country’s division.
In a statement, the General Secretariat reiterated its commitment to supporting a resolution to the Sudanese crisis in line with established Arab principles, which stress the importance of safeguarding Sudan’s sovereignty and national institutions.
The warning comes amid growing tensions between Sudan and Kenya. The Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs recently recalled its Ambassador to Kenya, Kamal Jabara, for consultations in response to Nairobi’s hosting of meetings involving the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and their allies. Sudan condemned the move as a “hostile” act.
Khartoum accused Kenya of “encouraging the division of African nations” and violating the principles of good neighborly relations. The Foreign Ministry described the development as “a declaration of hostility against the entire Sudanese people” and urged the international community to take a stand against Kenya’s actions.
At the same time, the UN raised concerns that efforts to establish a parallel government in Sudan could further escalate the crisis gripping the country.
