Sudan’s Foreign Minister Ali Yousif stated on Monday that the country’s war is approaching its conclusion, citing recent military advancements against the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the capital, Khartoum.

“We insist on the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration as a condition for engaging in any future negotiations with the RSF,” Yusuf said during a meeting in Cairo with foreign ambassadors and diplomatic representatives in Sudan.

The Jeddah Declaration, a framework signed in 2023, emphasizes the need for both sides to uphold international humanitarian and human rights obligations, ensuring aid can reach civilians in desperate need.

Meanwhile, Sudan’s military announced that it has successfully encircled the central area of Khartoum, solidifying its control over key parts of the city. Recent days have seen a string of military victories against RSF fighters in both the capital and other states, according to army officials.

The war between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the RSF erupted in April 2023, leading to a devastating toll. The UN and local authorities report that over 20,000 people have been killed and 14 million displaced. However, research from US universities suggests the death toll may be significantly higher, reaching around 130,000.
