Jordan braces for unstable weather
Jordan is set to experience a period of unstable weather starting Saturday night and continuing into Sunday morning. Cloud cover will increase, bringing scattered showers to the northern, central, and eastern regions.
Rain could be heavy at times in the eastern and central-eastern areas late at night and early Sunday, accompanied by thunderstorms and hail, potentially leading to flash floods.
In addition, southeastern winds will pick up dust in desert areas, while temperatures remain relatively cool during the day and warmer in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba regions.
A slight drop in temperatures is expected on Sunday, with continued cool and partly cloudy conditions. Showers will persist in eastern areas, with the heaviest rain forecast in the northeastern desert region until midday. Light and irregular rain may also fall in limited parts of northern and central Jordan. Winds will be moderate from the northwest, with occasional gusts, and some areas may still experience dust.
By Monday, the weather will remain cool across most areas, with warmer conditions in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba. There will be varying cloud cover at different altitudes, and moderate winds will come from the southwest.
Morning fog may reduce visibility, especially over mountainous areas, and the Jordan Meteorological Department is warning of the potential for hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility and wet roads.
Tuesday will bring warmer temperatures, rising 4-5°C above average, though it will remain relatively cool in most areas and warm in the Jordan Valley and Aqaba. Winds will shift to moderate southeastern to southwestern.
The Jordan Meteorological Department has issued warnings about the risk of flash floods in eastern and central-eastern regions late Saturday into Sunday, with potential heavy hail in the east. Visibility could also be reduced in the southeast due to dust and over mountainous areas due to fog. Drivers are advised to be cautious, particularly in rainy and dusty areas, and to avoid valleys and flood-prone areas during late-night and early morning hours. It's recommended to stay updated with official weather reports for any changes.
