The Arab League has expressed deep concern over reports of indiscriminate shelling that targeted the Zamzam refugee camp in North Darfur, resulting in civilian casualties. In a statement issued on Friday, the League called the attacks a clear violation of international humanitarian law.

The League reiterated its commitment to ensuring the protection of civilians and the delivery of humanitarian aid, stressing the need for a ceasefire to alleviate the suffering and restore stability. The Arab League also called on the international community to take action to protect civilians and pressure conflicting parties to adhere to international law.

Violence in Darfur has escalated, with the Sudanese military and the Rapid Support Forces continuing to exchange attacks, causing significant civilian harm and forcing thousands to flee their homes. The League warned that the ongoing violence threatens not only Sudan's stability but also regional security.
