Lebanese President appoints Nawaf Salam to form new government

On Saturday, Lebanese President Joseph Aoun signed two important decrees: one accepting the resignation of Prime Minister Najib Mikati’s government, and the other appointing Nawaf Salam to form a new government.

Aoun, along with the newly appointed prime minister, also signed a decree establishing a 24-member cabinet, officially ending over two years of a caretaker government.

The new government was announced on Saturday from Baabda Presidential Palace.
