Hans Zimmer commissioned to reimagine Saudi Arabia's national anthem
German composer Hans Zimmer is reportedly in discussions to create the score for an upcoming Saudi Arabian film about the Battle of Yarmouk, along with a reimagined version of the country's national anthem.
The Oscar-winning musician met with Turki Alalsheikh, a key advisor in the Saudi royal court and chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA), during the Joy Awards in Riyadh over the weekend.
Alalsheikh shared details about their meeting on X, stating, "Today I met someone who is considered one of the greatest musicians of our time." He added that their conversation covered various "future projects" that he hopes will materialize soon, including the idea of redistributing the Saudi national anthem using different instruments.

Furthermore, Alalsheikh mentioned his presentation of the latest developments regarding the Battle of Yarmouk film and the possibility of Zimmer contributing to its soundtrack. He expressed optimism about their discussions, stating, "We agreed on the broad outlines of all these projects, and I hope we will reach a final agreement on them."
The entertainment minister also noted that Zimmer conveyed his "admiration for the country of Saudi Arabia and its people."
