The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced a new requirement for all pilgrims from Jordan to receive the meningitis vaccine.

This decision follows health protocols established by Saudi Arabia, which mandates that all pilgrims be vaccinated prior to traveling to ensure their health and safety during Umrah.

Adel Al-Balbisi, head of the National Center for Epidemics, confirmed that the vaccine is available at the Ministry of Health and will remain valid for two years for those who have already received it.

Balbisi also noted that the Ministry of Health will offer the vaccine at approved centers across various governorates, with these locations to be announced ahead of the upcoming Hajj and Umrah seasons.

The Ministry of Awqaf emphasized that pilgrims must receive the vaccine and present their certificate at air and land border crossings, with a final deadline for full implementation on Feb. 1, 2025.

In addition, Jordanian travel agencies instructed pilgrims to get the vaccine at least 10 days before their departure.
