'Israeli' army chief Herzi Halevi announces resignation
The Chief of the General Staff of the 'Israeli' military, Herzi Halevi, has announced his resignation, effective March 6. This decision comes in the wake of growing internal tensions following the Gaza ceasefire.
In his resignation letter, Halevi admitted, "Israeli army failed in its mission to defend Israel, and the state paid a heavy price." He also took responsibility for the army's shortcomings during the events of Oct. 7, 2023, saying, "The terrible failure of October 7 accompanies me every day, every hour."

Halevi highlighted the army's long-term military campaigns across seven fronts, claiming significant achievements that "changed the face of the Middle East."
Meanwhile, tensions continue to escalate as violence persists in the region. The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported seven martyrs and 35 injuries following an 'Israeli' assault on Jenin.
Further updates regarding Halevi's potential successors and the implications of his resignation are expected in the coming weeks.
Moments after Halevi's resignation, the military announced that Major General Yaron Finkelman, Commanding Officer of the Southern Command, has informed the Chief of the General Staff of his decision to end his service in the Israeli Occupation Forces.
