During a joint press conference with French President Emmanuel Macron at Baabda Palace, Lebanon's official presidential residence, President Joseph Aoun highlighted the deep historical and cultural ties between Lebanon and France.

Aoun stated that every Lebanese heart carries a piece of France, highlighting the countries' shared mission of spreading enlightenment for the good of humanity.

Despite the challenges Lebanon has faced in recent years, Aoun noted the country's resilience.

He expressed confidence that the Lebanese people, despite their sacrifices, remain capable of rising again, thanks to their unique ability to invent lasting joy.

Aoun thanked France for its continued support during this difficult period and hoped that President Macron's visit would be a testament to the renewed trust the Lebanese have in their country and state.

Concluding his remarks, Aoun declared that Lebanon has moved past the suffering phase, stating, "From now on, we are students of life, not death." He also welcomed Macron to "ever-living Beirut" and praised the historical bond between Lebanon and France.

Macron: France will stand by Lebanon

French President Emmanuel Macron, in his joint press conference with Aoun, reaffirmed France's commitment to supporting Lebanon across all sectors.

He congratulated Lebanon on electing a new president, which, he said, brought hope after a prolonged period of political vacancy. Macron praised Aoun and his government for steering the country toward recovery.

Macron assured that France would rally international support to help Lebanon achieve stability and development.

He also reiterated France's ongoing support for Lebanon in its new political arrangements, saying, "We will continue to support you in achieving political and economic stability."

On security matters, Macron expressed his hope for a full withdrawal of “Israeli” forces from Lebanese territory and emphasized that weapons should only be in the hands of the Lebanese army to ensure national sovereignty.

He added that France would continue supporting Lebanon's sovereignty, which is crucial for regional stability.

Macron also announced that a conference would be held in France in the coming weeks to support Lebanon, where the international community would address Lebanon's needs for reconstruction, reforms in justice, energy, anti-corruption measures, and more.
