What will weather be like Tuesday?

On Tuesday, Jordan will remain under the influence of the Siberian High, according to ArabiaWeather’s forecasts.

While conditions will generally remain stable, the chill in the air will persist due to strong southeastern winds, which may occasionally produce powerful gusts, especially in high southern mountain areas and the Jordan Valley escarpments.

Warmer weather in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba

The Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will escape the prevailing cold. These areas are expected to experience mild temperatures, reaching the low to mid-20s Celsius.

Such conditions, described as spring-like, are warmer than usual for this time of year, despite it being the coldest period of winter. However, sporadic strong winds may still occur in some parts of the valley.

Why do Eastern Winds feel colder?

Experts explain that southeastern winds in winter often amplify the sensation of cold for several reasons:

  • Dry and Moisture-Free Path: Eastern winds travel over dry, continental terrain devoid of water bodies. Without moisture to moderate the air temperature, these winds remain cold and amplify the chill as they reach the region.
  • The role of air humidity and heat stress: Air humidity is a key factor in thermal comfort. In humid and warm conditions, the body struggles to cool itself due to reduced sweat evaporation, increasing heat stress. In contrast, during winter, dry winds like the eastern winds prevent significant sweating. This lack of moisture, combined with the cold wind, enhances the sensation of cold, especially during gusty periods.

As the Siberian High continues to dominate, residents are advised to bundle up, particularly in regions exposed to strong winds.
