VIDEO: New Sednaya prison? Shocking Qarnada prison leaks spark outrage

Disturbing footage leaked from the Qarnada prison in Benghazi, notorious for its reputation, has sparked widespread outrage both locally and internationally.

The videos, which show brutal torture and inhumane treatment of prisoners, have drawn comparisons to Syria's infamous Sednaya prison, according to Russia Today.

Social media users shared the clips widely on social media, revealing shocking scenes of beatings with sticks, whips, and fists, causing severe injuries like bruises and fractures. Former inmates reported instances of electric shocks, along with constant deprivation of sleep and adequate food, severely damaging their health.

Qarnada is known for holding political prisoners opposed to Libyan military leader Khalifa Haftar. Human rights organizations have renewed calls for an independent investigation into the abuse and for accountability to prevent further violations.
