Syrian Intelligence foils Daesh attempt to bomb Sayeda Zainab shrine

On Saturday, Syria’s General Intelligence Directorate announced that it had thwarted a Daesh attempt to carry out an explosion at the Sayeda Zainab shrine near Damascus.

The intelligence services revealed that the planned attack would have taken place in the vicinity of the capital.

The operation resulted in the arrest of individuals involved in the plot, which was aimed at executing a "major criminal act targeting the Syrian people."
