Mikati to meet with Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Damascus on Saturday
Reuters reported on Friday that Lebanon's Prime Minister Najib Mikati is scheduled to meet with Syria's new administration leader, Ahmed Al-Sharaa, in Damascus on Saturday.
This meeting comes amid significant regional changes, as Lebanon's newly elected President Joseph Aoun was sworn in on Thursday after winning a second parliamentary vote.
In his inauguration speech, Aoun highlighted the importance of fostering "good relations with the Syrian state" and called for serious dialogue based on mutual respect for both nations' sovereignty and border security.
Sharaa, who assumed leadership of Syria's new administration after the fall of Bashar Al-Assad's regime on December 8, is focused on strengthening neighboring relations and is committed to building positive ties with Lebanon.
