VIDEO: Bernie Sanders receives vote in Lebanese presidential election

During the Lebanese presidential election vote, one legislator cast a vote for US Senator Bernie Sanders instead of a Lebanese nominee. 

However, the vote was later annulled and removed from the official tally.

The incident, while unusual, did not affect the outcome of the vote, which continued with the focus on selecting a Lebanese candidate for the position. 

Joseph Aoun was elected as the new President of Lebanon, securing votes of two-thirds of the MPs.

Aoun, the commander of the Lebanese Armed Forces, gained widespread support from both local political factions and international stakeholders.
