Iraq foils terrorist plot, arrests Daesh member in Kirkuk

Iraq's National Security Service announced on Friday that it had thwarted a major terrorist plot targeting security forces and successfully arrested a member of the Daesh terrorist group in Kirkuk, northern Iraq.

The service stated in an official statement that its forces arrested an individual attempting to carry out a bombing in the Tuz Khurmatu district of Kirkuk using an improvised explosive device (IED).

The statement added that intelligence revealed the suspect's affiliation with Daesh's "Kirkuk Province."
