Gov't Communication Minister hails Jordan’s media in combating misinformation

Government Communications Minister and government spokesperson Mohammed Momani praised Jordan’s growing efforts in media and information literacy, emphasizing the importance of media awareness, credibility, and combating misinformation and disinformation.

Speaking at a seminar at the University of Jordan, Momani stressed the necessity of trusting sources and verifying the accuracy of information in an era of overwhelming information flow and diverse media platforms.

Momani highlighted the credibility and objectivity of Jordan's media landscape, noting that both official and independent media institutions enjoy high trust for their professionalism and commitment to truth-seeking and impartial reporting.

He credited Jordan’s Hashemite leadership for its wisdom in making sound and fair decisions during challenging times, enabling the country to navigate political obstacles effectively.

Momani also emphasized the professionalism of Jordan's military and security agencies in maintaining stability and managing crises, alongside the awareness of Jordanian citizens, as key factors in the country's resilience.

Jordan’s leadership, he added, has firmly established the country’s political strength in a turbulent regional environment.

Momani commended Jordanian media institutions for creating a balanced media framework that combines swift reporting with factual accuracy and credibility. This approach, he said, has been instrumental in raising public awareness of the risks facing Jordan and preventing the spread of falsehoods and misinformation.

He highlighted the high level of professionalism exhibited by Jordanian media, which has enabled the country to counter smear campaigns targeting its security and stability. He noted that this balance between rapid response, truth-telling, and credibility has significantly contributed to the public's understanding of challenges while safeguarding the nation's interests.
