Syrian Interior Minister issues statement after deadly ambush on forces
Syria's Interior Minister, Mohammad Abdul Rahman, issued a statement early Thursday following the announcement that 14 security personnel were killed and 10 others injured in an ambush carried out by remnants of the former regime in the countryside of Tartus.
In his statement, the minister emphasized the sacrifices made to preserve Syria's security and stability, stating, "Today, the ministry has set an example of sacrifice and devotion to safeguard Syria's security, stability, and the safety of its citizens."
He added, "These sacrifices will not cease until stability is achieved and security is fully restored for the Syrian people. We will strike with an iron fist against anyone who dares to threaten Syria's security and the lives of its citizens."
The Syrian Interior Minister confirmed that several security personnel were ambushed while performing their duties to maintain security and protect residents in the Tartus countryside.
He further stated that a total of 24 members of the Interior Ministry's forces were either killed or injured in the attack.
According to the minister, the ambush was executed by remnants of the former regime while security forces were carrying out their mission.
