Jordan, EU discuss strengthening strategic partnership
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi received a phone call Wednesday from Dubravka Šuica, the European Union’s Commissioner for the Mediterranean.
During the call, Safadi and Šuica underscored the strong and enduring partnership between Jordan and the European Union and expressed their commitment to expanding cooperation across various fields.
Safadi congratulated Šuica on her new role within the EU, highlighting the importance of Jordan-EU relations and expressing appreciation for the EU's consistent support for the Kingdom.
The two officials discussed ongoing negotiations to finalize the Jordan-EU Strategic Partnership Agreement as soon as possible. They also explored ways to enhance collaboration within the Union for the Mediterranean, co-chaired by Jordan and the EU.
Talks touched on efforts to achieve a lasting ceasefire in Gaza, end hostilities, and ensure the delivery of humanitarian aid to the territory.
Safadi and Šuica also addressed the situation in Syria, emphasizing the need for stability and security. They reiterated Jordan and the EU’s support for a comprehensive, Syrian-led political process that ensures the country’s unity, sovereignty, and the rights of all its citizens.
The two sides agreed to maintain communication and continue strengthening bilateral relations in all areas.
