Tehran school, offices closed again

Schools, universities, and government offices in Tehran and surrounding areas will remain closed for a third consecutive day on Tuesday due to ongoing fuel shortages and cold weather, Iranian state television reported.

The closures come as the country struggles with a combination of freezing temperatures and insufficient heating fuel supplies, prompting authorities to extend the shutdown.

"Due to persistent cold weather, schools, universities, and government offices in Tehran and its surroundings will be closed tomorrow," state television quoted a government statement.

The measures aim to conserve energy and ensure safety as the cold spell continues to impact daily life across the region.
