Senior Hamas official reveals progress in Gaza ceasefire negotiations

A senior Hamas official delivered the latest update of the ongoing Gaza ceasefire and prisoner exchange negotiations between the group and “Israel”

The anonymous official, quoted by Saudi news outlet “Asharq”, said the deal is “closer than ever”.

“We are closer than ever to reaching a ceasefire and prisoner exchange deal if Netanyahu does not obstruct the agreement.”

The official said the proposal submitted by Hamas shows great “flexibility”, in regards to provisions that stipulate a “gradual end to the war and a gradual withdrawal of Israeli forces according to an agreed-upon timetable, and guarantees from international mediators.”

He added that the United States must now exert pressure on Netanyahu to finalize the deal.
