Jordan is hosting a series of Arab and international meetings in Aqaba today, Saturday, to discuss the latest developments in Syria, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The meetings, convened at Jordan’s invitation, involve the Foreign Ministers of the Arab Ministerial Contact Committee on Syria, established by the Arab League. This committee includes Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, and the Arab League Secretary-General.

The meetings will also be attended by the foreign ministers of the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain (which currently holds the Arab Summit presidency), and Qatar.

International representatives will include the foreign ministers of Turkey and the United States, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs, and the UN Special Envoy for Syria.

The goal of the meetings is to discuss ways to support an inclusive political process led by Syrians, in line with UN Security Council Resolution 2254, aiming for a political transition that meets the aspirations of the Syrian people.

Discussions will also focus on rebuilding Syria’s state institutions while maintaining the country's unity, territorial integrity, sovereignty, security, and stability, as well as protecting the rights of all its citizens.
