FIFA Council announced Wednesday that the joint bid by Morocco, Spain, and Portugal has won the right to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

The tournament’s opening matches will celebrate the centennial of the competition in South American countries Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay.

This will mark the first World Cup held across three continents—Africa, Europe, and South America—and will feature six host nations. It also follows the 2026 edition, which will be hosted by the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, as the first-ever to span three countries.

The winning bid, the only one submitted for 2030, scored 4.2 out of 5 in FIFA’s evaluation, outperforming the joint proposal from Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay, which received 3.6 out of 5.

Key cities proposed for the tournament include Rabat, Casablanca, and Ben Guerir in Morocco; Lisbon and Porto in Portugal; and Madrid in Spain. The tournament is tentatively scheduled to run from June 13 to July 21, 2030.

In another significant development, FIFA also announced that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 FIFA World Cup. The Saudi bid received the highest evaluation score in World Cup history (4.2 out of 5), highlighting a decade-long strategic vision.

The Kingdom’s proposal garnered widespread international support, reflecting confidence in its organizational capabilities. Saudi Arabia’s hosting credentials have been bolstered by its successful track record of organizing major sporting events in recent years.
