Jordan on developments in Syria

A government source stated that Jordan is closely following developments in neighboring Syria and reports regarding the Syrian president.

The source reiterated Jordan’s consistent position, calling for the preservation of Syria's unity, security, and stability, expressing its hope for the restoration of Syria's state institutions, security, and stability.

This comes after Syrian Prime Minister Mohammed Al-Jalali announced early Sunday that he is ready to "cooperate" with any leadership chosen by the Syrian people and to facilitate a "handover" of power, following the entry of armed opposition factions into Damascus.

Meanwhile, reports surfaced that President Bashar al-Assad had left the country, with the Syrian army's defenses in the capital reportedly collapsing, allowing the opposition to advance.
