Jordanian exports rise 2.8% in first eight months of 2024
Jordan’s exports increased by 2.8 percent during the first eight months of 2024, according to data from the Department of Statistics.
Exports to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries reached JD 3.8 billion during this period, data from the Amman Chamber of Commerce revealed.
Saudi Arabia tops trade partner list
Saudi Arabia emerged as Jordan’s leading trade partner, with bilateral trade totaling JD 2.3 billion. Jordanian exports to the kingdom amounted to JD 742 million, primarily pharmaceutical products, while imports were dominated by petroleum oils and gases.
The United Arab Emirates ranked second, with trade totaling JD 823 million. Jordan’s exports to the UAE reached JD 192 million, primarily platinum-plated gold, while imports focused on non-monetary raw gold.
Vegetable exports boost trade with Qatar and Kuwait
Trade between Jordan and Qatar reached JD 93 million, including JD 74 million in exports, led by fresh and chilled vegetables.
Trade with Kuwait totaled JD 134 million, with JD 100 million in exports, mainly fresh vegetables, while imports primarily consisted of oxygen gas.
Other GCC trade highlights
- Oman: Trade reached JD 79 million, with JD 50 million in exports, primarily pharmaceuticals. Imports were led by anhydrous ammonia.
- Bahrain: Bilateral trade amounted to JD 55 million, including JD 33 million in exports, mainly fresh vegetables, while imports centered on aluminum alloys.
