Man fatally shoots niece in Jordan; charged with premeditated murder

The Grand Criminal Court has charged a man with premeditated murder for shooting his 31-year-old niece twice in the head during a family dispute in the governorate of Balqa, Jordan.

The accused has been ordered detained for 15 days, renewable, at a correctional and rehabilitation center pending investigation, according to court officials.

A source close to the investigation said the crime stemmed from a family conflict. The accused shot his niece with a handgun following a heated argument.

The incident occurred on Saturday evening in Balqa Governorate, where the victim, a divorced woman living with her family, succumbed to her injuries after being rushed to the hospital.

According to the same source, the argument erupted during the accused's visit to his brother’s home. The dispute escalated into violence, culminating in the fatal shooting.
