"Israel’s" Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on Monday that construction of a border fence with Jordan will begin soon, "Israeli's" Channel 7 reported.

Katz made the statement during a visit to the central command headquarters of the "Israeli" army in occupied Jerusalem.

The push for the new border fence gained momentum following a recent incident where three "Israelis" were killed at the Allenby Bridge crossing by Jordanian truck driver Maher Al-Jazi, who was subsequently shot dead by "Israeli" forces.

Citing concerns over alleged security threats, including infiltration, weapon smuggling, and attacks, "Israeli" Energy Minister Eli Cohen called for expedited construction.

“This is not an option, it is a must,” Cohen stated, referencing "Israel’s" existing barrier on its border with Egypt as a model for the proposed project.

"Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu echoed similar sentiments earlier in September, pledging to fortify "Israel’s" eastern border. Shortly after, reports surfaced of initial work on a trench along the Jordanian border, signaling the first steps toward enhanced border fortifications.

Katz reaffirmed the urgency of the project, emphasizing its role in strengthening "Israel’s" overall border defenses. He tied the initiative to broader security concerns, particularly what he described as Iranian-backed efforts to create an “eastern front” against "Israel."

“We see a relentless and institutionalized Iranian effort to establish an eastern front against the State of Israel,” Katz claimed. “We cannot lose in this campaign against the establishment of the eastern front, and we will have to do root cause treatment in some places to prevent Judea and Samaria and the refugee camps from copying Gaza."

The border between Jordan and "Israel" spans 335km, with 97km shared with the occupied West Bank and the remaining 238km directly with "Israel."

The two countries maintain three border crossings: the King Hussein/Allenby Bridge, the Wadi Araba/Yitzhak Rabin Terminal, and the Sheikh Hussein/Jordan River Crossing. These crossings, typically operational, have faced occasional closures due to security concerns.
