Additional details unveiled about new city project in Madounah
The Jordanian government has allocated JD 2 million in the General Budget for detailed studies of a new city project, first announced in November 2023.
The new city will be located near Madounah, approximately 30km from both Amman and Zarqa. The land designated for the project is entirely state-owned and surrounded by treasury lands, ensuring full governmental control over its development.
Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Muhannad Shehadeh, confirmed during a meeting with economic journalists last Thursday that the committee responsible for the new city project will present its recommendations to the Cabinet in the coming two weeks.
Shehadeh revealed that the comprehensive plan for the city has been completed, which includes provisions for an international stadium and various recreational centers.
The project is designed to accommodate the rapid urban expansion of both Amman and Zarqa, while offering better housing options for citizens at affordable prices. It aims to provide improved living conditions and alleviate the challenges of public service provision, ensuring sustainable urban development for future generations.
