London's Gatwick Airport evacuates South Terminal amid security incident
A significant portion of London's Gatwick Airport's South Terminal has been evacuated following a "security incident."
The airport, the second busiest in the UK, confirmed it is currently investigating the situation, which remains ongoing, Sky News reported.
In a statement on social media, Gatwick assured the public that the safety and security of passengers and staff is its top priority and that efforts are underway to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible.
Videos shared online by travelers showed large crowds leaving the terminal building as authorities responded to the incident.
Gatwick Airport announced on X that the terminal would be closed until further notice, citing a police operation and emergency services at the scene.
A large part of the South Terminal has been evacuated as a precaution while we continue to investigate a security incident.
