The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communication, Zaid Nawaiseh, will hold a press conference to announce the findings of the preliminary estimates of natural gas reserves in the Risha Gas Field.

  • Kharabsheh: We have revived the national oil and gas exploration program.

  • Kharabsheh: Investments in gas extraction and exploitation require an estimated JD 2 billion.
  • Kharabsheh: We are currently exploiting between 16 to 17 million cubic feet of the daily production of 45 million cubic feet from the Risha Gas Field.
  • Kharabsheh: We will implement a project to build a gas pipeline from the Risha Gas Field to the Khanasiri area, 320km long, which will require time and investments.
  • Kharabsheh: The gas transportation pipeline from Risha to Khanasiri will take three to four years to implement.
  • Kharabsheh: The quantities of gas available are evaluated along with their economic feasibility to assess the expected contribution to the economy.
  • Kharabsheh: The government is working to accelerate the steps to complete the national program for delivering natural gas to cities and industrial areas.
  • Director General of the National Petroleum Company (NPC), Mohammed Al-Khasawneh: A clear plan is in place to develop the Risha field, aiming to drill 70 wells between 2024 and 2029.
  • Khasawneh: The goal is to reduce costs for the industrial sector by 30 percent to 60 percent.
  • Khasawneh: Gas will enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian products and increase job opportunities.
