Turkey severs diplomatic, trade relations with “Israel”
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced Wednesday that Turkey has severed trade and diplomatic relations with “Israel” – according to Anadolu Agency.
His remarks came during a press conference upon his return from two diplomatic visits: the extraordinary summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Arab League in Saudi Arabia, and the COP29 climate summit in Azerbaijan.
Erdoğan addressed what he said are “Israel’s” genocidal acts in Gaza and Lebanon, calling for an immediate ceasefire and uninterrupted humanitarian aid to those affected.
Erdoğan emphasized Turkey's commitment to keeping international pressure on “Israel”, promising actions rooted in international law.
“Turkey,” he said, “has shown the strongest response globally to “Israel's” injustices, taking concrete steps including the halt of all trade dealings.”
He noted that the ruling coalition, the "People’s Alliance," remains steadfast in maintaining this stance.
“We have cut off trade and relations with Israel, and we stand with Palestine to the end,” Erdoğan stated. He warned that as long as weapons continue to flow into “Israel”, its aggression would likely intensify, worsening conditions in both Palestine and Lebanon – per state-run news agency Anadolu Agency.
