Cabinet holds second provincial meeting in Irbid
The Cabinet held its second provincial meeting of the year on Tuesday, convening in Irbid.
This follows their first session in Karak last month as part of the government’s ongoing efforts to decentralize decision-making and bring services closer to local communities.
Prime Minister Dr. Jafar Hassan led the meeting in Irbid, where he underscored the government's commitment to addressing long-delayed projects and revitalizing key sectors in the region.
He highlighted the importance of strengthening Irbid’s industrial, agricultural, and tourism industries, as well as attracting critical investments to generate the job opportunities necessary for local development.
“Economic modernization cannot succeed unless we foster development in the provinces,” Hassan remarked. “Empowering citizens in cities, villages, and rural areas, while improving public services, is essential for achieving sustainable growth.”
The meeting also saw the participation of local elected representatives, who were given the opportunity to voice concerns and priorities specific to Irbid’s unique needs.
The government outlined plans to bolster productive sectors and improve living standards across Jordan’s governorates, with a special focus on rural and underserved areas. The initiative aims to ensure that development benefits all regions, not just urban centers and strengthens local economies.
