Taiwan reveals investigation findings on pager explosions incident
On Monday, Taiwan’s Ministry of Justice Investigation Bureau clarified that customs records do not show any exports of AR-924 pager devices from the Taiwanese company Gold Apollo to Lebanon.
The bureau stated that the pagers involved in the recent explosions in Lebanon were manufactured outside of Taiwan.
The explosion of the wireless communication devices used by Hezbollah operatives in Lebanon resulted in at least 12 fatalities and approximately 3,000 injuries, as the devices detonated simultaneously across multiple locations. The incident prompted a strong response from Taiwanese authorities, who emphasized that no Taiwanese individuals or companies were involved in the production or detonation of the devices.
A senior Lebanese security official suggested that the explosives embedded within the devices were planted by "Israeli" intelligence (Mossad).
Additionally, the New York Times (NYT) cited sources claiming the pagers had been manufactured in Taiwan but later rigged with explosives by Israeli Occupation authorities before being sent to Lebanon.
In a statement, Hsu Ching-kuang, founder of Gold Apollo, strongly denied any involvement in the incident. He clarified that while the devices in question bore the company’s brand, they were not manufactured by Gold Apollo, and the company had no connection to their production or modification.
