Hamas issues statement on Donald Trump’s election win
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) has issued a statement in response to the US election results, indicating Donald Trump’s widely-projected victory as the 47th president of the United States.
Hamas stated that its position on the new administration will depend on its practical stance and policies toward the Palestinian people, their legitimate rights, and their just cause.
Hamas emphasized that "the previous U. administration pursued a path heavily biased in favor of [The Israeli] occupation and aggression, granting political and military cover to war criminals, enabling them to continue some of the most brutal acts of genocide in modern history.”
“This cemented the U.S. role as a full partner in the killing of tens of thousands of our people, including children, women, and the elderly,” the statement said.
The movement urged Trump "to heed the voices rising within American society itself, which, for over a year since the aggression on Gaza, have protested against occupation, genocide, and unconditional support for the Zionist entity."
Hamas concluded by stressing that "the new US administration must understand that the Palestinian people remain steadfast in their resistance to the abhorrent Israeli occupation. They will not accept any course that undermines their legitimate rights to freedom, independence, self-determination, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital."
