"Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu appointed Gideon Sa'ar as the new Foreign Minister, replacing Israel Katz, who has moved to the role of Minister of Defense.

- Background -

Born on Dec. 9, 1966, in Tel Aviv, Gideon Sa'ar studied law at Tel Aviv University. He began his career as a lawyer before entering politics in the late 1990s.

Sa'ar is a prominent member of the Likud party and is recognized as a leading figure in the far-right faction of "Israeli" politics.

- Political career -

Sa'ar first entered the Knesset in 2003 and has since built a strong political profile, holding key government positions:

  • Minister of the Interior (2013-2014): In this role, he implemented significant reforms in immigration and internal affairs during Netanyahu's second term.
  • Minister of Education (2009-2013): Sa'ar oversaw educational reforms that updated curricula and improved programs for students in certain areas.
  • Minister of Public Security (2003-2004): He focused on enhancing internal security measures during a critical time for the state.

- Conflict with Netanyahu -

In 2020, Sa'ar left Likud due to growing tensions with Netanyahu over leadership issues. He established a new party, New Hope, aiming to provide an alternative to the major parties, though it did not achieve expected electoral success.

Following a turbulent political period, Sa'ar rejoined Likud, reaffirming his commitment to the party and supporting Netanyahu on key matters such as security and foreign policy.

- Political stance -

Sa'ar is known for his staunch right-wing positions on both domestic and foreign policy. He advocates for a robust national security strategy, supports ongoing "Israeli" settlement in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and opposes any concessions regarding the state's security.
