Border guards intercept drone smuggling drugs into Jordan
The Jordanian Southern Command of the Armed Forces foiled today an attempted drug smuggling operation Monday using a drone on its western border.
In a statement by the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), it reported that Border Guard forces in the Southern Command, in coordination with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, intercepted a drone attempting to cross the border illegally, applying engagement rules and downing the drone within Jordanian territory. The seized materials were then handed over to the appropriate authorities.
The JAF emphasized that this operation highlights the military's ongoing response to smuggling attempts that utilize advanced technologies like drones to transport drugs.
The “Jordanian Armed Forces remain steadfast in deploying all necessary resources to prevent infiltration and smuggling and to maintain the security and stability of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan,” the statement concluded.
