In Madaba, a schoolteacher has been detained following a tragic accident where his vehicle collided with the school gate, leading to the deaths of two students.

The public prosecutor charged the teacher with "causing death" for each child and ordered his detention for a week, which may be extended as the investigation unfolds.

The Director of Education in Madaba provided insight into the incident, explaining that the collision occurred when the teacher attempted to park in an unauthorized area within the school premises. The school grounds have designated parking areas for teachers, which were not followed in this case.

The gate was reportedly closed when it fell on the two students, who were standing behind it. Both were immediately rushed to the hospital, but they succumbed to their injuries due to the impact.

The Madaba Directorate of Education has since formed an investigative committee, stressing that accountability measures will be taken. The directorate emphasized that parking inside the school’s grounds is generally prohibited for safety reasons.

Forensic examinations of the students, both aged seven years old, were conducted at the Madaba Forensic Medicine Center. Doctors concluded that the cause of death was severe trauma to the head, neck, and chest resulting from the impact with a solid object.
