Army thwarts drug smuggling attempts on eastern border
In the early hours of Sunday, in collaboration with military security agencies and the Anti-Narcotics Department, Jordan's Eastern Military Zone successfully thwarted several smuggling and infiltration attempts along the country’s eastern border.
According to a military source from the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF), smugglers attempted to breach Jordanian borders, taking advantage of unstable weather conditions and heavy fog.
The source stated that attempts began at dawn, with multiple groups trying to cross into Jordan. In response, Jordanian forces implemented established rules of engagement, which resulted in the death of one smuggler, while the others retreated into Syrian territory. The seized contraband was handed over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.
