“Israel” deploys new weapon in north to counter Hezbollah’s drones from Lebanon
The “Israeli” military has recently deployed a weapon in the north to better deal with the threat of Hezbollah drones from Lebanon.
The M61 Vulcan cannon, created by “Israeli” company Tamar, will reportedly improve the “Israeli” military’s ability to intercept drones coming from Lebanon.
The cannon has six-barrels of 20mm each. It can shoot some 6,000 rounds per minute – it was used previously by the United States to protect its humanitarian floating pier, and also in Iraq, according to Hebrew Channel 12.
Vulcan’s effectiveness will be tested in the near future, to be used later to increase “operational response”.
Vulcan cannons were used previously in a small and a limited area, and were described as effective.
But in the north, they were less effective due to the topographical structure of the border area with Lebanon.
After several incidents of Hezbollah drones making their way into central “Israel” and failing to intercept them, the “Israeli” Ministry of Defense issued a call a while ago to all local military industries to find a system that will improve UAV detection.
