The Iranian Army has issued a statement revealing the death toll of the overnight “Israeli” attack on its territory.

“The army of the Islamic Republic of Iran sacrificed two of its soldiers last night while confronting the projectiles of the criminal Zionist regime,” it said in a statement, cited by Tasnim News Agency.

The statement said that the two soldiers were “martyred in order to defend Iran's security and prevent harm to the nation and interests of Iran,” adding that additional information will be released soon.

The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) issued a statement following the overnight strikes on Iran on Saturday morning, detailing the nature of targets struck by its jets.

The statement said that the IOF’s planes returned safely after “striking military targets in Iran” which was “in response to Iran’s attacks against the State of Israel in recent months”.

The IOF declared that the retaliatory strike against Iran has been completed, and claimed that all its objectives have been achieved .

According to the statement, the strikes were targeted at missile manufacturing facilities used by Iran in its attacks against “Israel”.

It added that “Israeli” jets also targeted surface-to-air missile arrays and Iranian aerial capabilities that were intended to restrict “Israel's” aerial freedom of operation in Iran.

“Israel now has broader aerial freedom of operation in Iran.”

“The targets that were struck were selected from a broad target bank – targets of various types, and we will be able to select additional targets from it and strike them if required,” the statement said.

“This is a clear message – those who threaten the State of Israel will pay a heavy price,” it declared.
