Qassam Brigades reveal details of targeting 401st Brigade Commander in Jabalia
Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, has revealed details of an explosive device that killed Israeli Occupation brigade commander Ihsan Daqsa in Jabalia, northern Gaza Strip.
According to Al-Qassam, its fighters reported that an anti-personnel “television” explosive was detonated at 3:00 PM on Sunday, targeting a group of 12 'Israeli' officers on foot, killing and injuring them in the al-Falouja area, west of Jabalia Camp.
'Israeli' army later confirmed the death of Brigade 401 commander Ihsan Daqsa and the injury of several others, including a battalion commander.
Earlier, the 'Israeli' military disclosed that Daqsa and other officers had reached a point inside Jabalia with two tanks when an explosive was triggered by wires. Investigations suggested the device was activated by stepping on or pulling a tight wire.
'Israeli' military radio confirmed the incident, reporting that Colonel Daqsa was killed and three other officers were injured, including the deputy commander of Division 162 and the commander of Battalion 52.
Hebrew media reported that Daqsa was one of four colonels killed since the start of the war, making him the highest-ranking 'Israeli' officer killed in the ground operations in Gaza.
