Programming, AI to be added to Jordan’s school curriculum
The National Center for Curriculum Development has incorporated programming and artificial intelligence (AI) into the newly developed digital skills curriculum for seventh, ninth, and eleventh grades, as part of its efforts to modernize the education system and keep pace with global technological advancements.
In a statement released on Sunday, the center said that the inclusion of programming and AI is part of a comprehensive plan to update textbooks for this subject over the next two years.
The goal is to enhance students' digital skills and prepare a generation capable of effectively engaging with modern technology, while also focusing on critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
The newly developed digital skills textbooks, covering grades one through twelve, include a wide range of essential and advanced technological skills previously absent from Jordanian curricula.
These include topics such as the Internet of Things (IoT), AI, cloud computing, and programming with Python, one of the most important languages in the fields of AI and cybersecurity.
